We have been using Aireus on our iPads as a till system for the last couple of years. At the point we decided to move to iPads there were few options available and Aireus looked to be the best at the time, two years on and there is lots more choice. Aireus was born from an electronic till system and converted to web/iPad and therefore suffers from a lot of that legacy. Many of the new providers started from scratch with the web/iPad on day one and therefore have been able to leapfrog many of the legacy providers.
Since we were having issues with Aireus and it was now looking expensive in comparison to the new providers we decided to compare some of the new iPad till systems on the market.
We compared the following iPad tills:
The criteria we used for comparing them is very specific to our requirements so may not work for everyone, it also assumes each bit of software does the basics just fine.
Here is a google doc with our iPad epos software feature comparison. Feel free to add to it if you have additional requirements or want to add a new product to the list.
UPDATE – October 2015
We have now trialled all these epos systems and the conclusion was that intelligentpos was the best of the bunch. However, with one big caveat that we can’t use it because it doesn’t support a central backend for pushing different menu items to different ipads(stores). It was built with a single shop in mind and they have started to bolt a web/cloud backend onto it but its work in progress. They think they will be able to launch the new backend sometime in 2016. Once this happens it will be a winning product but until then none of them really provide a viable option.
